CAREERS — Experienced Litigation Attorney

Barg Singer Hoesly PC is seeking a litigation attorney with 3+ years of experience handling complex commercial litigation matters. We give our attorneys significant responsibility on each case so you can expect to work directly with clients and opposing counsel, draft pleadings and briefs, take and defend depositions, argue hearings, and do all the things that make trial fun.

We are a prominent litigation and real estate law firm in Portland representing clients ranging from individuals to Fortune 500 companies. Our litigation practice encompasses business, real estate, shareholder, fiduciary, consumer, class action, trust and estate, insurance coverage, appellate, and other disputes. We are active in the legal and broader community and value our personal lives as much as our professional ones.

The Candidate

We are looking for a lawyer who holds their work to an exacting standard. The successful candidate will be:

  • Intellectually sharp, and quick on their feet — in a hearing, on a call, or when a matter turns unexpectedly.

  • An excellent writer, strategist, and persuader.

  • Dogged. The helpful fact or law is out there, and you keep looking until you find it.

  • Resourceful, creative, and ready to think past the conventional answer.

  • Genuinely skilled with people. Clients come to us with difficult problems, and we want someone who listens well, explains clearly, and earns their trust.

  • Eager to take a case and run with it, with sound judgment about whether and how it should settle or be tried.

  • Able to juggle multiple matters, working both independently and as part of a small team.

We are open to attorneys with 3-5 years of experience, or significantly more. We are open to attorneys who want a path to equity role at the firm and those who don’t, as well as those who prefer to have more narrowly defined roles for the cases they work on.

Admission in Oregon state and federal courts is a must, and Washington a plus.

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation starts at $150,000+ depending on experience and qualifications, with discretionary bonus potential. The billable expectation for this position is flexible depending on compensation.

Benefits include employer contribution to health care plan and 401(k) retirement plan, paid vacation, transit subsidy, and opportunities for pro bono service.

Applicants should submit a cover letter, resume, and writing sample to Cody Hoesly at choesly@bargsinger.com.
